What Makes a Healthy Community?
A group of caring women and men, a dream, and an organization known as Healthy East Chicago, Inc. The creation of Healthy Community initiatives are happening worldwide by communities creating strategies to improve the quality of life. Years ago, the Healthy Community movement began with the World Health Organization and the concept has now spread and appealed to hundreds of communities worldwide — mobilizing individuals and resources to promote the health of the entire community.

Healthy Communities share a common vision for the future well-being of the total community and employ a process that helps them achieve their goals. While different communities may focus on different objectives, like employment, jobs, safety, security, healthcare, education, children, housing or pollution, they’re all working to improve the quality of life.
